How can a love story turn into a nightmare? Activist Xheklina Bylykbashi shared her experience for the first time in the fifth episode of “ The Dalina Show ,” where the main topic was narcissism and the devastating impact it has on the lives of victims.
The lawyer and activist, mother of two daughters, confessed that her story began as a passionate romance, but she soon began to discover the dark side of her partner.
"It was a story that started as a very beautiful, very passionate romance, but that didn't last long because the first signs of a narcissist appeared - manipulation and lies. Over time, I identified and understood them."
Xheklina confessed that her relationship with her partner became so toxic that she was forced to manipulate his behavior towards her and vice versa, to her parents and in society. So, she began to imitate his behavior to escape her partner.
"I wasn't being true to myself or to others. It was a huge challenge."
To symbolize the emotional violence and abuse she had experienced, Jacklin decided to appear on the podcast with a dress torn at the back, on which she had written the words: "A narcissistic partner did this."
Touched and with tears in her eyes, she gave a strong message to all women:
"Don't keep dresses like that in your wardrobe."
Narcissism is an extreme form of self-importance that often involves a constant demand for adoration and a marked lack of empathy. A narcissist typically demands constant attention and is incapable of feeling and understanding the needs of others. This often leads to broken relationships and constant conflict, as narcissistic individuals often see the world only through the prism of their own self-interest.
If you feel lost in a relationship that makes you doubt yourself, don't be afraid to ask for help. There is life beyond manipulation and emotional abuse – and that life is worth living.
