Members of the British royal family cannot wear seat belts. The rule is very strange considering that seat belts are an important element of safety during car trips, which is important for everyone and especially the royal family.
So why aren't seat belts being worn?
British safety expert Michael Chandler said that members of the royal family have given up wearing seat belts because of the emergency situations they may encounter. Paradoxically, the royal family does not wear seat belts, for the sake of their own safety.
"As you can imagine, we may have alerts to get a member out of a vehicle as soon as possible. It's likely that something dangerous is going to happen."
As for legality, Chandler said: "They are unlikely to be arrested or fined for breaking this rule."
However, on long journeys things are different: "In those cases where they are travelling relatively quickly around London or on motorways - they will probably put on their seatbelts."
We all know people like that in our lives who think they're part of the royal family, right?
