Season 2 of "Severance" may have been a big hit to Apple TV Plus' pockets - but the return has been incredible.
This second season of the dystopian drama cost $20 million per episode, but it's money well spent, as "Severance" has become the most watched show of the moment.
"Severance" tells the story of Mark (Adam Scott), a widower who, in order to forget the grief brought on by the death of his wife, decides to join Lumon - a shady company that performs surgical operations on employees with the consent of people to separate their memories at work with those outside of work.
Mark's family, along with his only three colleagues at work: Helly (Britt Lower), Dylan (Zach Cherry), and Irving (John Turturro), become increasingly dissatisfied with Lumon and the secrecy of its operation and devise devious schemes to uncover the true nature of their mysterious work.
When "Severance" returned this January three years after the first season, fans said the painful wait — compounded by a climactic moment that ended the first season — was "worth it."
The second season had a similar response from critics – scoring 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Fans will also be relieved that "Severance" director Ben Stiller (yes, that comedy actor) has announced a third season of the series.
"It should last as long as the story requires; that's something we have an idea for and are working towards as we begin our work on season three," Stiller told Collider.
