Vivian Jenna Wilson hinted that her father, Elon Musk, used IVF (in vitro fertilization process) that selects the sex of the child to be born.
Many of the billionaire's 14 children were conceived through IVF. With his first ex-wife, Justine Wilson, Musk fathered six children — five of whom were conceived through IVF. All of them were assigned male and were born as such, although Vivian later came out as a transgender woman.
Elon also has three children with ex-partner Grimes. One of them is a daughter named Exa Dark Siderael Musk, who was born via surrogate. “I was fighting for Odysseus Musk,” Grimes said in 2022, implying that it had been her choice to have a daughter. “A daughter named Odysseus was my dream,” she continued.
Current partner, Shivon Zilis, has four children with Musk. Their twins, one of whom is a girl named Azure, were conceived through IVF. It's not clear what gender their third child, Arcadia, is. He also has a son with influencer Ashley St. Clair.
So Musk now has two cisgender daughters (born female) and one transgender daughter out of fourteen confirmed children in total. Vivian and Elon do not have a close relationship with each other, as the former has accused her father of being an absent parent who did not accept the fact that "she had been different her whole life."
In Threads this weekend, Vivian wrote, "My assigned sex at birth was a commodity that was bought and paid for. So when I was quite feminine as a child and then came out as transgender, I was going against the product that was bought in the first place."
"That expectation of masculinity that I had to rebel against my whole life was a monetary exchange. A MONETARY EXCHANGE," she continued. "How the hell is this legal?"
Sex-selective IVF is extremely controversial. It is completely banned in many countries outside the US.
According to alleged messages between Musk and St. Clair, the mother of one of his children, he told her: "Yeah, we have an army of babies to make," considering he has also openly expressed his concerns about the drastic decline in birth rates in the world.
However, contrary to himself, under Musk's ownership, his employees' benefits at Platform X for fertility and adoption expenses were halved in 2022.
