Have you had a bad day? You woke up with a weight on your shoulders and you don't know why? Your thoughts tell you that everything you've worked for is worthless? You looked at yourself in the mirror and it felt like you were looking at a stranger? Let me tell you something: feeling like this is very normal. In fact, it would be surprising if you didn't have bad days.
Why?
Because we are human. Our bodies and minds are designed to experience different emotions. If we didn't have ups and downs, we would be like a robot with preset programs. Would you like to be a robot? I don't think so. So, since we are here together, having a boring day, let's remember some things that can help us cope more easily.
1. It won't last forever
Even though today it feels like you've fallen into a hole you can't get out of, don't trust your mind when it tells you it will always be like this. You will get out of it. There will come a time when you'll feel lighter. The sun will shine again. I guarantee it.
2. You've had better days before.
Think about it: Haven't you had days before when you felt good? When you looked in the mirror and thought, "I like the way I look today!"? When a stranger smiled at you, when the neighbor's dog wagged its tail when you petted it, when a new recipe turned out perfect and you felt a small but important pleasure? See? These feelings exist and will return.
3. Emotions are like the weather
We don't live in a bubble where everything is the same every day. One day it rains, one day it's sunny, one day it's windy, and one day it's scorching hot. That's how our emotions work. One day you're happy, one day you're sad, one day you're tired, one day you're full of energy. Every emotion comes and goes, just like the clouds in the sky that, although they seem stationary, are always moving.
4. Are you at the point where you think, “I can’t do it anymore”?
If so, I can tell you with absolute certainty: You can. Maybe you don’t feel that way right now, maybe you feel like you’ve squeezed every ounce of energy you have, but remember: you’ve said this before and you’ve done it again. It’s not the first time you’ve felt this way, and it’s not the first time you’ve had to go through it.
5. You don't have to face it alone
If you have a trusted person, talk to them. If you don't have the strength to talk, write. If you don't want to communicate with anyone, listen to a song that makes you feel better or watch a video that entertains you. The important thing is not to let dark thoughts drown you. Sometimes, even something small can make a difference.
6. This too shall pass
No matter how hard today seems, there will come a time when you will remember this feeling as something distant. A week, a month, or a year from now, you will see it differently. Remember: no storm has lasted forever.
And when this day is over, remember to tell yourself: I made it this time too.
