Despite the end of a series of record global temperatures, Europe was hit in July by extreme heat, deadly floods and widespread wildfires.

July was the third warmest month on record in the world, with above-normal temperatures in countries such as Norway and Finland, which experienced unusual heatwaves, while Turkey hit a historic record of 50.5 degrees Celsius.

Experts warn that, although the wave of global records has been "temporarily" interrupted, the effects of climate warming are increasing and immediate action is required to avoid worsening.

Since April 2023, Sudan has been in the midst of a brutal war between the state army and RSF paramilitary forces, with bloody clashes particularly in the Darfur region. In April 2025, RSF launched a 72-hour attack on the Zamzam displaced persons camp, killing over 1,500 civilians and committing massacres, abductions, and sexual violence.

The attack is considered one of the most serious war crimes in the Sudanese conflict, but has passed without any strong international reaction.
