You won't believe how much time has passed: These legendary films recently

Some of the biggest movies and series in history are fast approaching their big anniversaries. Every year, more and more movies are released, with box office numbers continuing to grow steadily.

With this rise in popularity and the booming movie business, there are many more films that have become widely known and favored by the public. However, it is surprising how many of these films are rapidly approaching important historical anniversaries, despite feeling like they were recently released and still being loved just as much by people.

"Star Wars", 25 years

Star Wars originally released the first installment, A New Hope, in 1977, almost 50 years ago. What's even more shocking, however, is that the fourth film, Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, came out almost 25 years ago. Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace provided some of the essential background to the events that would ultimately lead to the fall of the Republic and the rise of the ruthless Empire within the Star Wars universe.

"The Lion King", 30 years

“The Lion King” is one of the most beloved children’s films of all time, with one of the most tragic and heartbreaking deaths. When the film was originally released in 1994, it gained critical and commercial success, winning a wide range of awards, including Oscars, Golden Globes, and Grammys. The film also went on to inspire several sequels, although none achieved the same popularity, including the 2019 film.

"Fight Club", 25 years

One of the greatest films ever made came out in 1999, directed by the visionary David Fincher. “Fight Club” was based on the novel by Chuck Palahniuk and featured the incredible talents of Edward Norton, Brad Pitt, and Helena Bonham Carter. The film features one of the greatest twists of all time in any film and became an instant classic with fans still quoting and debating the film and its themes.

"Malcolm in the Middle", 25 years

For fans of “Breaking Bad” who first met Bryan Cranston as drug kingpin Walter White and then saw him play the eccentric father of a hilarious family, “Malcolm in the Middle” might have come as a shock. The impact of the show’s less sugary take on family life was felt on television for years after the show ended in 2006. Growing up in a middle-class family is tough, and “Malcolm in the Middle” captured that feeling best. 25 years later, a return of the series has been announced by Disney+.

"Gilmore Girls", 25 years

Lorelei (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel) Gilmore literally became the identity of a generation of girls when “Gilmore Girls” premiered in 2000. As the most unlikely mother-daughter duo in all of Stars Hollow, the series’ revival with the miniseries “A Year in the Life” from Netflix proved the timeless nature of the story, which continues to attract new audiences even today.
