Aubrey Plaza has broken her silence following the news of the tragic death of her husband Jeff Baena at the age of 47.
In a brief statement obtained by DailyMail, a representative for the actress, 40, said: “This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has provided support. Please respect our privacy during this time.'
The statement comes after Plaza was forced to skip her hosting duties at the 82nd annual Golden Globes ceremony on Sunday in Los Angeles.
Plaza, 40, was revealed as the show's host in a press release Friday — the same day that Los Angeles County Medical Examiner officials confirmed that Baena, 47, was found dead at a home in Los Angeles Feliz of Los Angeles, ruling it as his own suicide.
Plaza — who began dating Baena in 2011 and married him in 2021 — had collaborated with her late husband on such films as 2014's "Life After Beth," 2017's "The Little Hour" and " Spin Me Round” of 2022.
While Plaza was not in attendance for Sunday's Golden Globes, "The Brutalist" director Brady Corbet, 36, filled in for him and Baena after they won the best director award.
"Finally, tonight my heart goes out to Aubrey Plaza and Jeff's family - good night," Corbet said, as cameras panned to an emotional Adrien Brody in the audience as The Brutalist frontman held back tears.
