Jay Z has faced controversy in the courtroom following his recent actions related to allegations of raping a 13-year-old girl, along with P Diddy.
The music star, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has made several attempts through his lawyer, Alex Spiro, to dismiss the case or force the public identification of the woman who made the allegations.
But on Thursday, Judge Analisa Torres ruled in favor of the accuser, granting her anonymity for the next phase of the process and sharply criticizing lawyer Spiro.
The accuser, known as Jane Doe, claims Carter, along with rapper Sean 'Diddy' Combs, got her drunk and raped her when she was 13 at a party after the MTV Video Music Awards in New York. .
Carter has strongly denied the allegations, calling them baseless.
In a five-page document released Thursday, Judge Torres condemned Jay Z's attorney's aggressive legal maneuvers, describing them as "harsh" and filled with "hate speech."
She accused Carter's attorney of trying to speed up the court process by repeatedly filing motions to reveal Jane Doe's identity and dismiss the case.
"The filing of aggressive motions by Carter's attorney, filled with hate speech and aggression, is unacceptable, a waste of judicial resources and a tactic that is unlikely to benefit his client," Torres said. "The court will not expedite the judicial process simply because the lawyer requests it."
According to the lawsuit, the alleged incident occurred after the accuser, then a teenager trying to get into the awards show at Radio City Music Hall, was invited to a party by a man claiming to be Combs' limousine driver. The lawsuit describes how, after arriving at the party, the woman was forced to sign a "shut up" agreement, served a drug-laced drink and then raped by Carter and Combs, while a "celebrity female " he was looking.
In his defense, Carter accused both the woman and her lawyer, Tony Buzbee, of defamation and creating a "false statement".
In a major victory for the woman accuser, the judge ruled that her anonymity be preserved for the time being.
Buzbee's lawsuit against Jay-Z is part of a series of lawsuits he has filed against Combs, 55, who is jailed in New York while awaiting trial on federal charges alleging he blackmailed and abused women for years. the whole.
Jay Z has said the lawsuit against him is part of a blackmail attempt. After the allegations were made public, he released a statement, accusing Buzbee of trying to blackmail him into accepting a plea deal over allegations that he and Combs raped a girl when she was 13.
