A woman in the US said she filed a complaint with Human Resources after receiving a "strange" gift from the Secret Santa game from an anonymous colleague at her workplace.
Participating in this annual secret game of your job can be a real success or a big fail depending on who randomly selects your name.
Maybe you'll get a gift from a colleague who knows you very well and is able to get you something thoughtful, or maybe you'll get a regular bottle of alcohol, or socks. You just never know.
Either way, it goes without saying that it's the thought that counts. However, this saying holds up to a point, as one woman received such a "strange" gift that she ended up reporting the whole situation to Human Resources.
So what kind of gift could be so "disgusting" as to warrant a trip to the HR office? Something completely offensive or inappropriate?
It turned out to be something even more strange.
Unsure if she was being ungrateful or had a valid point with her reaction, the woman sought a second opinion online.
Taking to online forum Mumsnet, the woman shared images of each of the gifts she received along with the comment: "I got my Secret Santa from work today and I'm disgusted."
The woman went on to explain how her gifts included expired chocolates, expired nail polish and socks that already looked "worn".

"I'm really disappointed by this and I'm extremely confused," she added.
The woman was also not alone in her reaction, with users overwhelmingly agreeing that it was unacceptable to gift used and expired items to a colleague.
To be fair, the gift is so outlandish that it looks like part of an unsalted joke.
"Blimey! What did the other lucky employees get... or do you think someone is trying to tell you something," one person replied, while a second commented: "I think it's crap they found in their locker. Maybe forgot to buy anything and had to scramble for something at the last minute.”
Others speculated whether or not the gift could be from someone struggling for money, with one person writing: "I highly doubt anyone has deliberately chosen to do this rather than spend in the shops."
