Hiccup and Toothless finally come with a movie for the first time for all the fans of the animated trilogy.
Universal Studios has released the first trailer for its live-action adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon, the popular DreamWorks Animation trilogy released in the 2010s. The new film is set to hit theaters on June 13.
The live-action version features many of the original characters played by new faces.
Among them are Mason Thames ("The Black Phone") as Hiccup, Nico Parker ("Dumbo", "The Last of Us") as Astrid and Julian Dennison ("Deadpool 2") as Fishlegs Ingerman.
Gerard Butler plays Hiccup's father, Stoick the Vast, after voicing the character in the animated trilogy.
The trailer introduces Hiccup, Stoick and Toothless, who look exactly like their animated counterparts. As part of his viking training, Hiccup is instructed to go out and slay a dragon, but instead he befriends the adorable toothless dragon.
Dean DeBlois, who wrote and directed all three How to Train Your Dragon animated films, has the same responsibilities for the live-action film.
DreamWorks films included the original How to Train Your Dragon in 2010, How to Train Your Dragon 2 in 2014, and How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World in 2019.
Based on the book series by Cressida Cowell, the films follow a young man named Hiccup who encounters a trapped and injured dragon whom he befriends, trains and eventually names 'Toothless'.
The story takes place on Berk Island, which is home to a group of Vikings. The franchise also includes three TV series, theme park rides and a live show, How to Train Your Dragon on Ice. Overall, the series has generated more than $1.6 billion worldwide.
