In the new season, bags have demanded attention on the catwalks of spring 2025. Unlike in the past, when accessories were simpler, this time they will be the main elements in every look, no longer accepting a secondary role. Sling bags aren't just for New Year's - they'll be everywhere this spring! And while you're at it, bring old-school backpacks back to life, too. If you still don't have any bags that match these trends – don't worry, most of them are inspired by the past and thrift stores are full of bags styled with prints.
the fireworks
Louis Vuitton covered the famous Petit Malle bag in silver sequins, Gucci paired a glitter-filled bag with an equally brilliant dress, while Fendi celebrated 100 years with its iconic embellished Baguette bag.
Fringe bags
The bohemian trend has spread to every part of the wardrobe - from clothes, to shoes and now to bags. Tassels were everywhere on this season's catwalks, adorning a variety of styles, from handbags to crossbody bags and handbags.
Bags with prints
But fringes weren't the only '70s-inspired trend seen this season. Many of the bags that were introduced on the catwalks had retro prints. Versace's handbags came in several designs, while Alessandro Michele's first collection for Valentino included bags with colorful motifs. Gucci transformed its iconic horseshoe detail into a print.
Twisted bag
Many of them introduced bags that looked kind of… different. Balenciaga and Prada clutch bags looked like they had been squeezed by an outside force, while Versace's bag looked like a jewelry case mistaken for a purse.
Backpack (to carry it all)
It was not previously thought that backpacks could be part of high fashion, but the spring 2025 catwalks showed us otherwise. Many brands embraced the two-strap design in a way that matched their aesthetic. Coach transformed coin purses into backpacks, while Matthieu Blazy at Bottega Veneta presented a woven version. Chanel introduced padded bags, while Ralph Lauren experimented with a cane backpack. Only Miu Miu stayed true to the inspiration of the classic school bag, although the shocking red color and leather details took Miuccia Prada's bag to another level.
