The release of a new Liam Payne song has been delayed after the artist he collaborated with said "it's not yet time" and he wants to let the singer's family "grieve in peace".
The One Direction star, who died two weeks ago, wrote and sang the song "Do No Wrong" with singer Sam Pounds. Pounds had said the song would be released on Friday, November 1 and he hoped it would "eclipse the negative buzz" surrounding Payne's death.
But in a statement on Tuesday, Pounds said he was "deciding to keep 'Do No Wrong' a little and leave that freedom to all the family members." He added: "I want all proceeds to go to a charity."
“Even though we all love the song, it's not time yet. We are all still grieving Liam's death and I want the family to grieve in peace. We will all be waiting," he concluded.
People thanked Pounds for delaying the full release of the song, saying among themselves that it was "the right decision" and that "there will be a right moment for it in the future, but right now, we're grieving."
Liam Payne, the 31-year-old singer who grew up in Wolverhampton, died after falling from the third-floor balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires on October 16. The prosecutor's office in Argentina is continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
