Armend Rexhepagiqi, invited to "Canape", spoke among other things about his private life and the fact that he and his wife, Aida, have chosen not to become parents. Initially, the artist said that he did not have the instinct of his parents and further spoke about his choice.
"I didn't have (the instinct) and if I start to elaborate, it seems to me that I start to reason and justify myself, so I simply think that it is enough that there was no desire either on my part or on the part of my wife for us to have children" .
He continued that perhaps in the society we live in this is a taboo topic, but the choice not to have children is up to the couple:
"Maybe in our society this is a taboo topic, I'm sure of that, but it was our mutual decision, which we felt and respected."
The artist said that he does not regret this choice:
"Today I have no regrets, not because I want to affirm what I did, on the contrary, I enjoy being with other children, I love them very much. I have people in my family whom I am very close to, who have small children or create good relationships, but with myself I have not felt it much and I think that this is a right of people to feel (not to have) child). I think that this is also important for women because in some automatic way it is understood that every woman must have a maternal instinct and maybe even a man that of a father, this is not the case. I at least know myself, I have felt this. I do not need to justify myself and in our society I have not spoken, I have let people understand what they want because the fact that I do not have children has not hurt me".
Aida and Armendi have been married for years and have known each other for over 40 years. They are among the most prominent artists in Kosovo and Albania, due to their many and unforgettable influences in music.
