The famous actress Maggie Smith, who played the role of Professor Minerva McGonagall in the "Harry Potter" saga, passed away at the age of 89, surrounded by friends and family.
In a statement to the BBC, her children, Toby Stephens and Chris Larkin, said:
"It is with deep sadness that we announce the loss of Dame Maggie Smith. She passed away peacefully in hospital earlier this morning (September 27, 2024). She left behind 2 sons and 5 grandchildren who are devastated by the loss of their extraordinary mother and grandmother."
Further, the statement goes on to thank the medical staff and the support of the actress' fans. Maggie's children asked for privacy at this tragic moment.
