The Princess of Wales appeared yesterday for the first time in public, after announcing that she had completed chemotherapy treatment. The 42-year-old was joined by Prince William and other members of the royal family at a ceremony held at Crathie Kirk near Balmore Castle in Scotland.

Kate was photographed sitting as a passenger next to her husband William, in the car driven by the latter. Wearing a dark green hat with feathers, a brown coat with tartan motifs (checkered), while the prince dressed in a dark suit, the royal couple appeared at the ceremony along with other members of the royal family.

Attending this church ceremony also officially marks Kate's first public appearance since she announced earlier this month that she had completed chemotherapy treatment to cure her cancer diagnosis in time.
We recall that Kate revealed her cancer diagnosis through a video she posted in March of this year.

What is preventive chemotherapy?
Millions of people from every corner of the world have seen the video of the princess, as many eyes have asked what preventive chemotherapy is and how it works.
"Preventive chemotherapy is used after the initial cancer is removed, to try to reduce the risk of it coming back," says Marleen Meyers, MD, medical oncologist and director of the cancer survivorship program at New York University Langone Perlmutter Cancer Center.
"We often give this type of treatment to try to eradicate microscopic cells that can't be seen on scans but can grow if left untreated. Despite curing the cancer, there may be a high risk of recurrence, so preventive chemotherapy appears to be used. This can be done in breast, ovarian, colon cancer, etc."
Otherwise, this is also known as an adjuvant chemotherapy and it is scientifically proven that its combination with surgery improves the chances of life expectancy in full health and without the possibility of the disease returning.
