This is the film that has received the most standing ovations so far at the Venice Film Festival! Actresses Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton received a 17-minute standing ovation for their roles in The Next Door on Monday (September 2, 2024).

In a video posted on X, Swinton and Moore, both 63, hugged each other as the audience continued to applaud them at the film's premiere. At the same time, Pedro Almodóvar, the film's director, lined up with the audience, appreciating the film's success and around the 14th minute, signed autographs and took selfies with his admirers.

According to Variety, so far, the films that have received the most standing ovations and applause are:
"The Brutalist" - Brady Corbet (12 minutes)
"Maria" - Pablo Larrain (8 minutes)
"The Order" - Justin Kurzel (7 minutes)

The trailer for "The Next Door" was released on August 20. In the film, Moore plays the role of Ingrid, while Sëinton plays the role of Martha. They were friends when they worked at a magazine in New York, but then followed different career paths. The girls are reunited after Ingrid becomes a best-selling author and Martha is stricken with cancer.

"Ingrid becomes a novelist of fiction films, while Martha, a war reporter, and they are separated by the circumstances of life. After many years without contact, they meet again in an extremely strange but sweet situation", says the subject of the film.
