If in some recent studies, Sweden is regularly ranked at the top of the list for the happiest countries in the world, champions of sustainability and green living, finally there is another element that makes this country more than livable and safe .
In a recent US News report, Sweden was rated as the best country in the world for quality of life, ahead of Norway and Canada, which ranked second and third.
The website took into account factors such as economic stability, safety, the quality of the public education system and health care, with Sweden receiving the maximum score of a full 100.
"Sweden operates according to a model similar to those of other Nordic nations, i.e. very capitalist with a large percentage of spending going towards public service," states "US News", adding the fact that Swedes benefit from universal health care and higher education.
The report also points out that Swedes are among the most generous nations in the world, donating around one percent of their gross domestic product to humanitarian aid programs each year. The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which publishes its "Better Living" Index comparing well-being across nations, reported that Sweden currently "beats the average in income, work, education, health, environmental quality, social connectedness, civic engagement, safety and life satisfaction."
At the beginning of this year, the European Union announced the results of a survey that evaluated the quality of life in European cities, among them the capital of Sweden, Stockholm, where this country was ranked among the 10 best for the ease of finding a job, with the perfect functioning of public transport where almost 60% of citizens use it to go to work, to go out, meetings etc.
