Have you just returned from vacation and your bags are waiting to be packed by you? But how many of you really think that your suitcases are clean and germ-free, before and after travel? Think about the plane, the surfaces that describe the suitcases, the touches from the airport staff, etc.
There are several ways to clean them and four simple and practical steps are these:
- Disinfect, inside and outside
Whether you have hard or soft suitcases, your disinfectant can be the same: hydrogen peroxide or alcohol. Fill a bottle and spray inside and outside your suitcase.
-Remove spills, stains and scratch marks
Now let's talk about those pesky spots. Stains on the surfaces of soft fabrics can be sprayed or painted with hydrogen peroxide. Leave it on overnight to see if it removes the stain and then wipe it off with a cloth. For harder surfaces that have stains or scratches, use a sponge or tennis ball with soap and simply rub these surfaces.
-Refresh the suitcases
If your suitcase has an unpleasant smell, use baking soda for the interior space that helps absorb odors and moisture or a favorite fragrance.
-Beware of insects
If you're afraid of any bugs the suitcases may have picked up in transit, just put them in a garbage bag for 48 hours and wait. Wash with warm water and soap and then use alcohol to disinfect.
