Tattoos have a constantly changing trend. We've seen the rise and fall of single line tattoos, delicate flowers and Harry Potter symbols. Now, Gen Z is following a new trend called “cybersigilism” tattoos that we think will soon become part of your list for the next tattoo.
It's already being used by some of Gen Z's most beloved stars, including Dua Lipa and Billie Eilish.
If you haven't heard of cybersigilism tattoos yet, you're not alone!
The style of these tattoos is similar to the old barbed wire tattoos, with thin, black lines intertwining in a pattern. It combines the famous aesthetics of "cyberpunk" and "futuristic goth", which in the world of fashion are characterized by many black colors and elements of military style.
It's about creating digital 'sigils' - a symbol believed to give you mystical feelings. A "cybersigil" tattoo must contain symbols (such as hearts or bones) drawn by the wearer himself, representing his intentions or wishes. Symbols are imbued with intent and then 'sent' out into the universe.
The main characteristics of "cybersigilism":
- Black ink
- Thin lines
- Sharp lines
- Curved lines
