The son of Chrissy Teigen and singer John Legend has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. It was the famous model and entrepreneur herself who shared the news with virtually everyone through a post on Instagram yesterday.
"Many of you noticed something a little special in a photo I posted a few days ago of kids Luna, Miles and I cheering for athlete Simone Biles and Team USA at the Olympics," she wrote alongside a photo of her and two children holding the athlete's name with banners in their hands. For Chrissy, this was also a form of support for the athlete, who according to the media is said to have been diagnosed with diabetes.

Type 1 diabetes is a chronic condition that causes the pancreas to not produce enough insulin for the body. Insulin is a hormone the body uses to allow sugar (glucose) to enter cells and produce energy, according to the Mayo Clinic. There is no cure for this type of diabetes, but it can be managed with insulin, diet and careful monitoring.
Teigen admitted that she is aware of the fact that "things could go a lot worse."
"Many parents around the world are going through undiscovered things they could never imagine," she said. "I tell myself this every time I have a red alert through phone calls or texts."

Chrissy explained that they discovered Miles' diabetes a few weeks ago when he was sick in the hospital with an intestinal infection caused by bacteria in food or water. She and Legend, who have two other children, daughter Esti and son Eren, weren't worried at first because many of Miles' friends from school were also sick with the same infection, but doctors noticed something was wrong with the little one, exactly his bleeding.
After further tests, Miles was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Teigen ended her post with a message of thanks for all the support people have received.
"The fact that there are many other people in the world who go through the same situation, is something comforting and helps us in this situation as well," concluded the 38-year-old.
