Halsey has recently revealed that she almost lost her life from dealing with lupus and CTCL (cutaneous T-cell lymphoma), a type of cancer that starts in the white blood cells (T lymphocytes). The singer, through a post on Tumblr, showed people the challenges she faced and did not spare criticism for her fans:
"My fans are definitely meaner to me than anyone else on the planet. I'm not talking about everyone, of course. But there has been a small portion that has treated me horribly and now it seems that the majority just stuck around and every now and then they say how much they hate me and how bad I am. It is difficult for me to interact in a space that lacks kindness, sympathy, patience, or human honesty and decency. Especially, after years of hiding from interactions out of fear that exactly this would happen. I do not know. I almost lost my life", said Halsey.
"I will not say things that do not make me happier. Spiritually, I can't handle this. When I got sick, the only thing I thought about was to get better, to be part of this again (referring to music)". She added that she is now crawling into a dark hole and that she regretted coming back.
The singer of "Closer" returned to music with her songs "The End" and "Lucky". She shared that she shaved her head 4 times because she wanted to do something like that and another time because she got sick. "The End" also details her challenges with health, where the singer says: "A few years pass and the doctors say that I am sick; first it was my brain; now a skeleton in pain."
In June of this year, Halsey spoke about her condition, saying that she is "lucky to be alive". She tagged "Lupus Research Alliance" and "Leukemia and Lymphoma Society" in her post and people understood the artist's health problems.
In a series of photos and videos posted on social media, Halsey said she feels like 'an old lady'. "To cut it short: I'm lucky to be alive," wrote the singer, also announcing that she will bring a new album.
The artist, whose real name is Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, has spoken before about her health problems, stating that she has been sick all her life. In 2022 she revealed that her health had deteriorated while she was pregnant with her son, Ender.
