
It's the dilemma of every girl, with straight, curly, wavy or dyed hair! We all know it's important to have healthy hair and a scalp that's not dry or too oily, but what's the right way to do it?
"It all depends on your hair type," says Sabrina Porche, a hairstylist in Los Angeles. "It all depends on how your hair holds water. And if you feel like your hair is getting drier, or if you feel like you need to add moisture, it always makes a difference in how often you wash your hair."
According to dermatologist Shirley Chi, the shampoo only serves to break down oils and possibly dirt, but using it every day, looking at the ingredients that this product has, leads to drying of the hair and the skin of the scalp.
"Shampoo is supposed to remove excess oil from the hair, but if you overdo it, it makes your hair dry. So in other words there is no definitive answer to this hair washing method. The routine that makes hair healthy and shiny remains the best for all chicks,” says Anne Juliette, a hairstylist in Los Angeles.
But there is also something you should consider when washing your hair: the time when you wash it! It depends on your lifestyle, so if you are very active and sweat a lot, you wash your hair more often because of the sweating. If you practice this often, Porche says you should consider rehydration, i.e. treatments with balm or nourishing oil.
When it comes to the scalp, Chi Dermatology says there can be misunderstandings.
"If you have dandruff, you have to wash your hair every day, unlike the idea of ??dry hair or scalp. So if you wash your hair every day with dandruff, you're not harming anything, neither the scalp nor the hair," concludes Chi.
