
France/ The extreme right wins the first round of elections

Marine Le Pen's far-right party was declared the winner of the first round of elections. The party secured a convincing but still inconclusive victory. The second round of voting will be on July 7. Meanwhile, Le Pen himself announced the victory of the party, saying that "the French people have spoken".
Her party received 33.2% of the votes. Further, the left-wing New Popular Front received 28.1%, while Macron's party received 21% of the vote. At the bottom were the conservatives of Les Républicans, who received 10% of the vote.
New York/ A 13-year-old boy is killed by the police

Police officers fatally shot a 13-year-old boy and another person after matching the descriptions of two suspects wanted for a robbery in Utica. While the boys were being interrogated, the 13-year-old tried to escape.
Police Chief Mark Williams said police saw what looked like a "gun" and tackled the boy to the ground. After a brief confrontation, the officer shot the boy in the chest.
Although he received first aid, the teenager still did not manage to survive and died in the hospital. The incident immediately brought public reactions, as the local community attacked the police chief for killing a minor, which forced the police to release the footage.
Iran says it will go to war with Israel if the latter attacks Lebanon

Greece/ Hot weather causes different outbreaks of fire

Greece is engulfed by extreme weather and fires have started. On June 30, a large fire broke out in Athens and the situation is expected to worsen over the summer. Greece is facing very hot atmospheric conditions and temperatures have reached 44 degrees Celsius.
The fire in Athens has approached the houses of the residents, as it was also helped by strong winds. The media reported that three houses were completely burned and that 140 firefighters, eight helicopters and nine planes were activated in the rescue missions.
In the meantime, residents have been urged to evacuate and go to other, safer areas.
