What is wrong with Olta's statement about postpartum depression?
Olta Gixhari gave people the opportunity to ask her on her Instagram, and one of the questions was related to postpartum depression. Olta said:

"I didn't go postpartum, the first time almost at all. The second time I became a little more sensitive, I might have a slight emotional crisis, but I manage it very well. I talk to myself a lot, your brain is in your own hands, guide it on the right path and stop yourself saying "No". You have everything in hand!".

However, postpartum depression is not only related to "talking positively to yourself" and "commanding your brain". In fact, postpartum depression may not affect some mothers, but that does not diminish the impact it has on the lives of those who have experienced it.

First, for Olta and for everyone, let's explain what postpartum depression is!

The birth of a baby brings not only drastic changes in the life of parents, but also strong emotions, which range from indescribable joy to anxiety, fear and uncertainty. It can also result in postpartum depression, also known as "baby blues". Postpartum depression has mood swings, anxiety, difficulty finding, constant crying, negative thoughts, and in some cases a lack of desire to spend time with the newborn and thoughts of harming yourself or the baby.

Postpartum depression also coincides with difficulty in making decisions; in extreme disorder of the sleeping schedule and strong feelings of anxiety that make you not sleep even when a child sleeps; in constant stress and sadness.

In some cases, especially when you think of hurting children or/and yourself, you should contact a specialist doctor.

We have already said that this depression also affects men, who, although they do not give birth to the child themselves, also face a series of major changes in their lives. Due to decreased testosterone levels, men may also experience anxiety and depression.

Add to this other consequences such as chronic stress, irregular nutrition and lack of sleep, they also have every possibility of going through an episode of depression, which in negligence can even turn into chronic depression.

Postpartum depression can also be related to a constant pressure that new parents have from family members or society itself. High expectations for mom and dad to care for the child in a certain way are usually far removed from the reality of a life of sleeplessness, malnutrition, and confusion, where parents find it extremely difficult to do everything perfectly, with all the burden that suddenly comes into their lives.

To return to Olta's statement, depression, whether postpartum or not, is not simply a thought control, but a debilitating condition, which certainly should not be neglected in self-counseling. Fortunately for Olta, she has not known postpartum depression, but many other mothers, famous or not, have known it and have spoken openly about their feelings.

Recently, Zamira Kita revealed that she experienced postpartum depression, saying:

"One problem I discussed (was) the depression I went through after giving birth. I chose to share it with the public and I did it with full awareness, because there are many women who go through it and they should know that they want their time to pass", she said in an interview for "Night with Aulona", emphasized that it lasted 40 days.

"It is a fight that you will fight yourself and you will let time pass", said the actress, adding that nothing helped her. "Maybe the psychologist would have helped me, but I was at a stage where I couldn't listen to anyone and I couldn't communicate with anyone. I was closed in on myself".
 
Zamira said that no one believed her during this period and that the people close to her thought that she was pampered. "Even Ben (husband), no matter how much he tried to believe me, he still thought I was exaggerating," she underlined.
 
The actress said that at that time she got out of her routine and that the relationship with her husband was not like before. Zamira said that she got sick during that period and that only the mother of a friend visited her and advised her family members to take care of her.

The actress admitted that there were moments when she thought of harming herself. Asked by Aulona, ??Zamira said that "yes, she had thought" of something like that. 

"The only thing that calmed me down was this solution, since when I thought about it, I said that I had a way out. It calmed me down and I thought that at least the pain would end. I didn't have physical pain, but an anxiety that suffocated me", continuing that she understands very well people who go through depression, whether it is postpartum or not.

Einxel Shkira has also spoken about such a topic, saying: "I think we all go through it... it's just that each of us experiences and processes this type of depression in our own way."

Then he added:

"I know it's hard and the bad thing is that only we can understand each other, but I would advise you to focus all your love on the baby and his well-being and on nothing else, no other worries and nothing else" .

In short, clearly, as we said above, we should not reduce or neglect an unproven experience.
