While many people stick to the calories they take in during meals or the things they consume, it seems that the time you eat is just as important for those who are in a constant battle with the pounds.

A study to be published in the "Journal of Nutrition, Health, and Aging", carried out by nutrition experts at "Ewha Womans University" in Seoul, has analyzed the time when the last meal is consumed and sleep, as two things that directly affect in weight. Food and sleep are two elements that, according to researchers, control the circadian (sleep-wake) rhythm, something that affects people's body weight.
So, when we sleep enough, we automatically recharge the body with energy, influence the cell repair process and balance hormones and metabolism for a better body and physique.
"Modern societal factors such as extended working hours, night shifts and the use of electronic devices have created a regime of late eating and consequently fewer hours of sleep, affecting the circadian rhythm mismatch and all the health risks that come with it. this situation," say the researchers.
Circadian disruption occurs when the body's natural internal clock is disrupted, often due to habits such as waking up and eating late at night.
The researchers gathered information from a Korean study that included 9,474 adults, with an average age of 54. The study analyzed in detail factors such as the number of meals or their frequency, as well as the percentage of calories in each meal. The study also tracked sleep duration and compared it to weight gain.
During three years, all these details were analyzed in these people, which then turned out that it was about 10% of the participants who developed obesity. Individuals who ate dinner after 9:00 pm were 20% more likely to develop obesity. Whereas, women were more likely to gain fat in the abdominal area, especially if they ate dinner after this time.
So, be careful with food after 21.00 in the evening because this habit can translate into a few extra kilos over the years.
