Gray is one of the most timeless color choices, working as a much-loved neutral tone. But, according to architects, there are some colors that are never combined with gray, because the latter is considered a cold shade.
'Bright colors juxtaposed with gray create a visually jarring effect, while earth tones don't provide enough contrast, resulting in an unflattering look,' says designer Tamara Fitton.
But what are these five colors that don't go with gray?
#1 Warm tones

Gray as a cold color should be combined with cold tones and not those opposites that do not create a harmony of shades at all. So, not yellow or beige, if you already have gray at home.
#2 White

Gray and white create a high contrast, so avoid it as a combination if you don't want gloom in the house.
#3 Gray & Grey

To make sure you've given enough of the gray effect to your space, try a different accent color rather than the same one, as it simply won't make a difference.
#4 Orange or red

Bright orange or strong red look strange to combine with gray. The latter goes well with primary tones like pink, purple or blue and much less with others due to the saturation levels of the color.
#5 Coffee

Gray and coffee "clash" visually enough because they are earth tones and together they do not create any cool contrast. So, don't try it at home!
