Trump calls on NATO to stop buying Russian oil, threatens China with tariffs
US President Donald Trump has called on all NATO member countries to stop buying oil from Russia, while warning China of tariffs ranging from 50% to 100%, due to its imports of Russian oil.
"China has a strong, even iron fist, grip on Russia, and these powerful tariffs will break that grip," Trump wrote on his social media account, Truth Social, on Saturday.
He added that NATO's commitment to winning the war "has not been even close to 100%" and called it "shocking" that some members of the alliance continue to buy Russian oil.
Fear of drone attacks: Polish and allied forces remain on alert
On Saturday afternoon, Polish and allied fighter jets were activated for a "preventive" operation in Polish airspace due to a possible drone threat in the border areas with Ukraine, authorities announced.
During the alert, which lasted about two hours, the airport in the eastern city of Lublin was also temporarily closed.
This incident followed an earlier incident on Wednesday, when Russian drones entered Polish airspace and were shot down by NATO fighter jets, amid growing concerns about Russian aggression in Ukraine, which began in February 2022.
Israeli army raids home of Palestinian director of Oscar -winning film
On Saturday, Israeli soldiers raided the West Bank home of Basel Adra, one of the directors of the Oscar -winning film “No Other Land .” Adra himself confirmed the news.
He said soldiers asked his wife, Suha, about his whereabouts and checked her phone. Their nine-month-old daughter was also in the house during the raid.
Earlier in the day, his village had been attacked, injuring Adra's two brothers and a cousin.
Over 100,000 people protest in London at far-right march
More than 100,000 people marched through the streets of London on Saturday in a protest organized by far-right activist Tommy Robinson.
Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, is known for his nationalist and anti-immigrant views. He presented the protest as a demonstration for free speech and in defense of British heritage and culture.
The “United the Kingdom” rally drew around 110,000 participants, according to police estimates. A counter-protest called the “March Against Fascism” was also held at the same time, organized by the group Stand Up to Racism, with around 5,000 protesters.
