"Miss AI" became the first beauty pageant for influencers generated by artificial intelligence, and criticism for it is coming from mental health specialists, as well as from AI experts themselves.
Currently, there are AI generated influencers who are making thousands of dollars online and some of them are indistinguishable from humans. Inspired by the popularity of these artificially created individuals, the creators of artificial intelligence decided to open a beauty pageant that declared a girl created with artificial intelligence as the winner, even though there were also real people in the competition.
Officially, the competition is called "Fanvue World AI Creator Awards" (WAICAs) and it is expected that this new beauty industry will reach values ??of up to 1 billion dollars within the year.
But why has there been so much criticism of her?
Specialists point out that real beauty pageants and the industry as a whole is problematic now more than ever. It has been proven that most of them are responsible for many mental health problems.
"Concerns have been raised about the impact of beauty pageants on mental health, documented to include decreased self-confidence, promotion of negative body image and many problems with malnutrition," states Ashley Moser, licensed therapist.
According to her, artificial intelligence is promoting the same image, with women with a physique and appearance far from the truth"; "Technology, not only is not bringing innovation, but is promoting the same standards that are being fought to be destroyed," Moser continues.
This topic still raises many questions and discussions that the world is not ready to elaborate on.
