Sara Martinez is a young mother who decided to share her parenting experience through a TikTok video that has apparently caught the attention of thousands of people around the world. Like all parents, with insecurities and fears, surely after the video that has received the approval of many parents, the theory of the nine minutes when children need their parents the most has virtual support.

@iamsaramartinez I always struggle with mom guilt and questioning if I was present enough. If this is true or not, I will find setting aside specific time to be present with my toddler (no phones out, etc) has made a positive impact. #raisingkids #parenting #parentingtips #parentingtip #childpsychology #raisingtoddlers #toddlerparents #toddlermom #presentparenting #toddlermama #raisingchildren ? Neuroscientist Jaak Panksepp, who is widely credited for the theory that focuses on three key moments of the day to help a child feel happier and more secure. These moments are:

-The first three minutes after waking up

-Three minutes after they return from school

-The last three minutes of the day before going to bed

When Martinez went to work, she felt guilty about sending her 19-month-old daughter, Millie June, to daycare. The feeling of inadequacy haunted her until she decided to share her nine-minute theory with all new mothers and parents.

"It's all about timing and above all creating meaningful and focused interactions that make our kids feel valued and loved," explains Martinez.

The 9-Minute Theory is basically a code that represents real bonding with your child. "Relationships are built not just by the amount of time you spend with a person, but by how involved and present you are, especially when it comes to children," says Tovah Klein, director of the Center for Child Development and Growth in New York.

After all, it's quality over quantity that you should be aiming for in these nine minutes.

What makes a child feel safe is knowing that you are there when they need you most.
