Finland is officially the happiest country in the world for the seventh year in a row, according to the latest global happiness report. Two factors influence this "trophy" of the Finns: the high level of trust in the state and institutions and the absolute focus on work-life balance. But, beyond this mentality, it seems that even in the professional part, there are three successful expressions that Finns use most often to feel motivated and appreciated at the same time.
#1 "No one is born a professional"
Basically, this expression emphasizes the fact that there is always room to learn new things, since no one is born knowledgeable. Experts believe that following this philosophy leads people to believe more in improving their skills, so for Finns it is okay to make mistakes in the process of learning and working in general.
#2 All together for the good of the company
Employees in Finland may have different roles and responsibilities in a company, but when it comes to collaborating on an important project or event they are all together as equal contributors to this mission. So, in the Finnish work culture, hierarchy is only one side of the coin when it comes to the development and success of the company as a whole.
#3 Despite the problems, one must move forward
It sounds like a cliché expression, especially in the professional aspect where there are deadlines to meet and various tasks. But, in Finland, the philosophy of working in the most famous, but also the most ordinary companies is to do things as a group and move forward, despite the problems that come along the way. That way, you move forward with the plan, while unknowns and problems don't become obstacles to meeting all the company's objectives.
