Let's face it, at least for admirers of her roles and films, Eva Mendes misses cinematography and sets. During an episode of "Today", the actress spoke openly about her life as a mother of two daughters and her marriage to actor Ryan Gosling, whom she met in 2012 during the filming of "The place beyond the pines".
Eva and Ryan are parents to two daughters, nine-year-old Esmeralda and seven-year-old Amanda. But the actress says with conviction that the decision to stay away from Hollywood for so many years is one of the best decisions she has made in her life.
"I was very determined to do this. If I had enough time, I would spend it only with my children," says the actress, who in fact does not admit that she has completely cut herself off from acting, as she has chosen to work from home.

"Acting takes you away from family, children and other personal commitments, so that was another reason why I decided to step away from film roles for more than 10 years," adds Mendes.
Eva admitted that she and her husband are both in their respective film careers, noting that her work-from-home schedule allows Gosling to be more involved in new roles and films.
“It was almost like a non-verbal agreement of, 'OK, he's going to work and I'm going to work. I'll just work from home,” she explains. The actress also talked about Gosling's work strategy, referring to the post she made on Instagram during the 2024 Oscars ceremony, when she invited her husband to come home early to put the oysters to sleep.
This is not the first time Mendes has spoken about her nearly 10-year absence from the film industry. During an interview for "The View" in June 2022, she admitted that she still has a long career ahead of her.
Eva Mendes noted the fact that she was open to returning to acting, but with some conditions, as there are some projects that she would avoid due to the fact that she is now a mother of two children.
