Bradley Cooper has admitted it was challenging for him to bond with daughter Leah when she was born. The star of "Maestro" told the podcast "Armchair Expert" that when Lea was born in March of 2017, he did not understand the expression that other parents told him: "I would die for my child."

"For the first 8 months, I don't even know if I really loved that child. But I saw how this thing was transformed", he said.
He continued: "This is my experience. I am amazed by her. I love the fact that I care about him, but would I die if someone pointed a gun at me?" Cooper said that at first, he wasn't sure of the answer, but now, he's super confident that yes, he would.

"I'm not sure if I would be alive if I didn't become a father," he said, adding that "DNA tells you that there is something more important than yourself."

Lea is 6 years old and Bradley Cooper co-parents with ex-girlfriend Irina Shayk, with whom they have split on friendly terms. They take care to be present in the girl's life, and even take vacations together.
