Forget the sound of the shower water, the rain hitting the window or the waves of the sea... The next time you decide to relax, go to Spotify and search for the music of the birds in the forest and enjoy a cacophony of chirping.
According to TikTok and several scientific studies, including a 2022 paper published in Scientific Report, bird sounds have the ability to relieve anxiety in a pretty magical way. In a viral video, creator @whitnylvo said the sounds remind her of the first days of spring when the weather warms up, the mood improves and you suddenly want to get out of the house and eat ice cream.
Based on the video's 600,000 likes and countless other bird-related posts on the Internet, this therapy is being "embraced" by thousands of people in every corner of the world. Some say they use bird sounds as a gentle way to wake up in the morning, while others said they put bird chirping sounds on their phones for their cats to calm them down.

Why are bird sounds so relaxing?
According to Carrie Torn, a therapist in North Carolina, there are so many reasons why these sounds are valuable and are circulating everywhere on TikTok. "It's like bringing a little bit of nature from the outdoors indoors," she tells Bustle.

A bird's song can help regulate the nervous system by increasing your concentration and calming the nervous system. This simultaneously fills you with nostalgia for the old days while bringing a warm ray of hope into your life. A feeling, let's say comforting!

A group of chirps will instantly remind you of spring, which is why bird calls sound so beautiful in late winter. Unlike music, which can sometimes trigger emotional responses, bird chirping is often perceived as positive or neutral, which is why chirping can be the ideal piece to end your day.
If you can't hear any birds chirping outside at the moment, just listen to a bird-themed soundtrack on TikTok, YouTube or Spotify and let the chirping work its magic. Also, listening to the chirping of birds in the evening is an ideal way to relax.
What are you waiting for? Practice it as therapy as much as possible!
