It seems like this week has been all about Kim Kardashian, from the launch of a new cosmetics line to the launch of her unusual office, which has confused quite a few people on TikTok.
A 3D model of her brain, a solar panel, a miniature private jet on her desk, these were just some of the details that stood out.
We stick to solar, as it seems that this has caused quite a few debates among people. Solar beds had a "boom" of use in the 2000s, while the World Health Organization has proven with studies that they cause cancer. Perhaps, this is the reason why people were shocked when Kardashian showed her personal tanning bed inside the workplace.
"I have psoriasis and tanning really helps when it's bad. But I don't use it very often," Kim wrote in a post.
Light therapy is known to treat psoriasis. According to dermatologist Hadley King, the treatment works by preventing the spread of these cells in the skin, as well as in the parts of the immune system where they are active. The ultraviolet light in these beds definitely helps with this diagnosis. But, they also have harmful wavelengths that affect not only skin aging, but more importantly skin cancer. When dermatologists recommend light therapy for psoriasis and other skin conditions, they use a different type of light.
Since then, Kim has been open about her struggle with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.
Psoriasis is an abnormal skin condition that creates red, dry, scaly patches that itch on the face and body. In its beginnings, psoriasis appears in the form of small, red spots, which if not treated can quickly worsen. Its symptoms may worsen during winter. Cold and dry skin are the number one enemy!
