Experts warn that devastating fires in Spain and Portugal this summer were fueled by climate change, making them around 40 times more likely and more intense.

Temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius and strong winds created extreme conditions that gave the flames an unprecedented spread, breaking records for burned areas.

Scientists emphasize that this is a clear sign of the future, where every small increase in temperature will increase the risk of increasingly powerful fires.

 

Portugal declares day of mourning for 15 people killed in Lisbon train crash

Portugal declared a day of national mourning after 15 people were killed and 18 others injured when the famous "Elevador da Glória" electric train in Lisbon derailed and crashed into a building.

The victims include foreigners, while authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the tragic accident.

Russian forces launch overnight attacks in eastern and western Ukraine

Russian forces struck eastern and western Ukraine overnight, wounding civilians in Druzhkivka and destroying a garage complex in the Khmelnytskyi region.

In Druzhkivka, Smerch missiles damaged buildings and injured seven people, including a 16-year-old girl.

Meanwhile, in Khmelnytskyi, missile and drone attacks burned dozens of garages, but the fire was brought under control by firefighters.
