Foods that help you avoid seasonal viruses

Viruses are almost inevitable during the winter period, where we spend more time indoors and with many people. However, to ensure that our bodies are healthy, the best solution is to strengthen immunity. Below, you will find some light foods, which you should always have as part of your food diet.

1. Fatty fish: Fatty fish are an excellent source of protein and omega-3 fatty acids; salmon, sardines, herring, etc. are recommended

2. Broccoli: Broccoli is extremely nutritious and research has shown that eating many vegetables (cauliflower, broccoli, kale) reduces the risk of heart disease and cancer.

3. Avocados: Avocados contain potassium, magnesium, fiber and heart-healthy unsaturated fats.

4. Green Tea: You've probably heard that green tea is one of the healthiest drinks you can drink. 

5. Peppers: Peppers contain vitamin C and antioxidants that have powerful anti-inflammatory effects.

6. Mushrooms: Mushrooms are low in calories and rich in selenium, copper and all B vitamins. They also contain phenols and other antioxidants that provide anti-inflammatory protection.

7. Extra virgin olive oil: Extra virgin olive oil is rich in unsaturated fats and a staple in the Mediterranean diet, which has numerous health benefits.

8. Tomatoes: Tomatoes have vitamin C, potassium and lycopene, an antioxidant with anti-inflammatory properties.

9. Berries, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries: These small fruits contain fiber, vitamins and minerals.

10. Almonds: Almonds strengthen the immune system, especially against viruses. 

11. Dark chocolate and cocoa: Dark chocolate has antioxidants that reduce inflammation. Be sure to choose dark chocolate that contains at least 70% cocoa for the anti-inflammatory benefits.
