When a Malaysian tourist couldn't find her diamond ring in her room at the Ritz Hotel in Paris, the understandable fear that she would never get it back turned her days off into the hardest of her life.
Immediately, the next morning, she went to the nearest police station, stating that she believed that one of the staff members at the luxury hotel might have stolen the jewelry with a great value, a full 750,000 euros.
According to the newspaper Le Parisien, she had left it on a table in the room where she was staying, before she left to shop in several stores in the French capital.
But when the tourist returned to the room, she was suddenly faced with an unpleasant surprise, as the 6.51 carat diamond ring was not in the place where she had left it. As soon as they learned of the incident, hotel managers sprung into action and the ring was found in a place that not everyone might think of: in the vacuum bag of the vacuum cleaner.
In a statement to Le Parisien, representatives of the hotel said: “Thanks to the careful search work of the security agents, the ring was found. Our client is satisfied with this news".
Controversies regarding lost jewelry over the years in the most luxurious hotels in Paris and beyond have often been part of the coverage in the world media, for the very value of the lost items.
