Welcome to December, the most magical and most expensive month of the year (except summer, but those are for your own good). December has as its headline "spending", especially to make gifts for friends, family, children, the person of the heart... you know, the list is very long. Anyway, through this article we want to show you how to keep a little hand and not spend endlessly.
First, you should know that spending is not always necessary, sometimes it is emotional, which means that it is based on your feelings and not on rational thoughts. According to therapist Austin Williams: "Anyone can experience emotional exhaustion, but you can still have control over your finances."
Now, let's move on to tips to spend less:
Don't see notifications related to purchases.
If they come to your email, or even to applications, turn off notifications to be more relaxed.
Set a budget and stick to it
Set a realistic budget and stick to it at all costs. Also, write down the reasons why you should give an expensive gift, the value and the investment you will make.
Make a list and check it twice
Check the list and see if you can cross off any gifts that may be more expensive than your planned budget.
Apply the 48-hour rule
Most emotional spending happens when we feel disturbed by a promotional offer, discounts and the urge to buy something in a second. For this, the 48-hour rule comes into play, which coincides with placing the items you want in the basket, but not buying them. Instead, leave it in the basket and move on with your day. If after 48 hours you still feel like buying them, make them a purchase. This rule allows you to refrain from overspending.
Avoid shopping when you're sad
Just as you shouldn't shop for food when you're hungry, you should also do the same when you're sad. Buying when you don't feel well is very impulsive and you will most likely regret it quickly.
