Why TikTok is obsessed with this Christmas tree lights trick

The holiday season is eagerly awaited and some may call it the most beautiful time of the year. Shopping is done, the environment is decorated, the most beautiful films that have a Christmas theme are seen and many other activities. But if you're looking to cut down on the festive decor, TikTok is officially obsessed with a new way to hang Christmas tree lights: vertically.

Wrapping lights around the tree so that they create rows can be an old method. However, many people on TikTok are convinced that a vertical arrangement of them is the version you need.

"If you're going to believe the classic style of lights that dress the outside of the tree, that means the inside of the tree won't be lit, so there won't be depth of lighting," says architect Amy Pigliacampo. "Vertically placing the lights makes the lighting more visible, reduces the number of lights you have to buy or turn on, and in a way the whole festive environment gets bright," she continues.

The vertical lights may seem a little unsystematic at first, but if you look closely they can remind you of a hotel lobby.
