Artificial intelligence could enable millions of workers to work four days a week by 2033, according to a new study which analyzed the workforce in the UK and US.
The study found that the predicted productivity gains from the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) could reduce the working week from 40 to 32 hours for 28% of the workforce – while maintaining wages and performance.
Evidence suggests that this can be achieved by using tools like ChatGPT in workplaces to increase employees' roles and give them more free time.
Such a policy of working 4 days a week can also help avoid mass unemployment and reduce mental and physical illnesses.
New technology can improve work practices as well as work-life balance.
