Kim Kardashian said her mother Kris Jenner's divorce from her late father Robert Kardashian helped her get over her split from rapper Kanye West. In an interview with GQ, she shared her approach, inspired by her parents' divorce.
"I thought about how my parents coped with the children. I remember they were open. In the end, what matters is that children feel loved and heard. You have to be sensitive because they're just kids and it's hard to go through (such an experience) regardless of age, Kim said.
He further added:
“You have to make sure you go to a level that they can understand. It's okay to show your sensitive side. You should never go to the negative side. I remember thinking, "Please, God, don't let them interfere in (our) divorce."
The 43-year-old star, after divorcing Kanye, went to therapy to understand what was best for her children. "I went to the therapist to understand the psychology of children," adding that he received advice on how to deal with children.
Kim and Kanye finalized their divorce in 2021. They have 4 children together: North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm.
While Kris and Robert separated in 1991, after 12 years of marriage, because Kris cheated on her . But despite their split, Kris noted that she and Robert Kardashian remained close until he died in 2003 of esophageal cancer.
Kris has with Robert Kardashian daughters Kourtney, Kim and Khloe as well as son Rob; while he has daughters Kendall and Kylie with his ex Caitlyn Jenner.
