Selena Gomez has stated that she needs a break from Instagram and will delete her account after being heavily criticized for comments regarding the conflict between Israel and Palestine.
"Give up. I don't support any of what's going on," Selena wrote on her Instagram Story.
The decision came just days after she posted about the war in Gaza. "I'm taking a break from social media because it breaks my heart to see all the horror, hate, violence and terror going on in the world," Gomez wrote, adding that it's horrible that people are being killed by gangs.
"We must protect ALL people, especially children, and stop the violence once and for all. I'm sorry words or a hashtag will never be enough. I just can't stand that innocent people are getting hurt," she added, noting that she would like to change the world, but her post can't do that.
People immediately got angry with her post, which seems selfish to them, since there is a devastating war and a humanitarian crisis going on in the world, while Selena talked about "a break from social networks". Soon after that, people on social networks started writing that Selena is "selfish", "likes to play the role of the victim" and "is not a good person".
