Paramilitary gangs in Brazil burn more than 35 buses in Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro state governor Cláudio Castro has vowed to crack down on organized crime after paramilitary gangs launched an unprecedented attack on Rio's public transport system, torching dozens of vehicles in what the politician described as " terrorist acts".
Criminals reportedly set fire to at least 36 buses, four trucks and a train on Monday. Local media described the event as one of the biggest criminal attacks in Rio's history.
The attacks were said to be revenge for the killing of a senior paramilitary leader named Matheus da Silva Rezende.

The Israeli military is preparing "non-stop attacks" to destroy Hamas

Billboard campaign in Tel Aviv divides Israelis

The sentences: "We love you, we trust you", addressed to the Israeli army and: "Never again", are placed on the photo. The graphic images created by artificial intelligence have caused mixed reactions among the Israeli public; some find the campaign abhorrent, while many others have welcomed it.

The statement from the White House contradicts comments from UN and EU officials, who on Monday called for a ceasefire in order to send humanitarian aid to Gaza.
