Tirana will "wake up" tomorrow under extraordinary security measures due to the Berlin summit that will bring some of the most important leaders of the region to the capital.
To guarantee security, before, during and after the Summit, the following security perimeter has been provided:
- "Dëshmorët e Kombit" boulevard, from Dajti bridge to "Mother Teresa" square;
- "Bajram Curri" Boulevard from the intersection with Elbasan Street to the intersection with "Ibrahim Rugova" Street;
- "Pope John Paul II" street, "ETC-RTSH-Stadium";
- "Ismail Qemali" street, from the Liceu intersection to "Elbasani" street;
- "Mustafa Matohiti" street, near "Kosova" school;
- "Jul Variboba" street, near the post office, Elbasan street and "Papa John Paul II" street;
- "Fatmir Haxhiu" street, ETC;
- "Lekë Dukagjini" street, from "Frederik Shopen" square, to "Air Albania" stadium and around the stadium;
- "Free Ukraine" road.
On these roads, starting at 20:00 on October 15 until the end of the Summit, on October 16, at 20:00, parking and the circulation of vehicles and citizens will be prohibited, but only the movement of citizens who are residents in residential premises within the security perimeter.
All private businesses located within the security perimeter will be closed on Monday.
Citizens will not even be allowed to walk on "Pope John Paul II" street.
We emphasize that the above restrictions are a function of the security perimeter for the Summit, so we ask for the understanding of the citizens to respect the legal requirements and procedures, regulated by the State Police.
Prohibition of vehicle traffic, on October 16, from 08:00 to 12:00, and from 15:30 to 20:00, will be on the following roads:
– Rinas – Kashari Overpass – “Durrës – Tirana” highway – former “Shqiponja” square – Tirana ring road – Sauk roundabout – roundabout near the Security Academy – Brigade Palace – “Studenti” city roundabout, until the intersection with "Bajram Curri" boulevard;
- "Bajram Curri" Boulevard, from the intersection with "Ibrahim Rugova" Street, to Elbasan Street (this ban applies to all types of vehicles);
- "Dëshmorët e Kombit" boulevard, from the intersection with "Zhan D'Ark" boulevard to "Mother Teresa" square;
– The entire street "Pope John Paul II";
- "Ismail Qemali" street, from the intersection with Elbasani Street, to the intersection with "Ibrahim Rugova" street.
There will be restrictions on the circulation of heavy tonnage vehicles on the road axis "Shkodër - Lezhë - Milot - Thumanë - Fushë Krujë - Vorë".
In order to facilitate the progress of this important activity, the State Police requests the understanding and cooperation of all citizens, to reduce to the maximum the use and circulation of vehicles, during this day, as well as to use road axes and other directions of movement.
