Prada is taking its suits to the next level as the Italian fashion house announced a partnership with Axiom Space to create spacesuits for astronauts.
This week, the Milan-based luxury brand announced a collaboration with the commercial space company to create Nasa's spacesuits for the 2025 Artemis III mission – the first manned flight to the Moon since Apollo 17 in 1972.
"Prada's technical expertise with raw materials, manufacturing techniques and innovative design concepts will bring advanced technologies to ensure comfort," said Axiom Space CEO Michael Suffredini.
Prada's marketing director, Lorenzo Bertelli, praised the partnership, calling it a "true celebration of the power of human creativity and innovation to advance civilization."
The two companies said the AxEMU spacesuit will provide astronauts with advanced space exploration capabilities while providing NASA with human systems developed to access, live and work on and around the Moon.
