Thought your 2-year-old was unpredictable? Or maybe your four-year-old daughter tested your patience on her last birthday? According to a survey conducted by OnePoll, most parents think ages 2, 3 and 4 are terrible before age 8.
But, there is a connection between great hardship and an eight-year-old...Eight-year-old is officially a big kid. At this age, children form their personality and seek autonomy, while the body prepares for puberty and changing hormones.
The 2,000 parents who took part in the survey agreed that this was the most difficult year, with age 6 doing better than expected and age 7 producing stronger tantrums. Parents called the age of eight the "hateful eight" because they noticed that anger in their children increased at this age.
Eight-year-olds can be stubborn, slamming doors, rolling their eyes, in efforts to establish their independence and individuality.
The age you may find most challenging as a parent may be different from the parents surveyed in the survey. In fact, many parents consider the first years of the child as the most difficult, but also those of adolescence as the most challenging.
Every age comes with its ups and downs, but despite the problems of each cycle, parents never hid their surprise at the rapid growth of children who then become independent individuals.
