Selena Gomez, in an interview for the Twilio SIGNAL 2023 conference, talked about the trials she has faced in life, including the disease Lupus , mental health issues and breaking up with Justin Bieber.
The Selena-Justin relationship has been one of the most discussed relationships. They were together from 2010 to 2018, with a few breakups in between, but their fans were invested with them every moment.
In 2018, they broke up and soon, Justin started dating model Hailey Bieber in less than two months. He became engaged to her afterwards and the two were married the same year. Fans were left shocked by the series of events and Gomez had a hard time.
During the interview, Selena talked about her breakup with Justin Bieber and how that pain led to the creation of the hit song, "Lose You to Love Me."
"When I got heartbroken, I immediately wrote my best music and I wanted to be there for any woman or man or anyone who's been through the same thing," she said.
“I felt I didn't get a respectful closure [on the relationship] and I've accepted that, but I know I needed a way to say some things that I wish I had said. It's not a hate song; it's a song that says - I had something beautiful and I'll never deny that it wasn't. It was very difficult and I'm glad it's over. I felt that was a great way to just say that it's over and I understand, and I respect that, and now I'm entering a whole new chapter."
She stressed that she doesn't want to spend the rest of her life talking about it, but she's really proud that she feels stronger than ever.
