Tourists who travel alone and will visit Barcelona may have difficulties to eat in restaurants, since the latter are increasingly stopping the consumption of food only at the table.
Spanish daily El Pais reported that waiters are giving various excuses, such as "all the tables are booked". Restaurants are beginning to turn away people who want to consume something alone, in favor of groups that bring in more money.
Tables with several people are likely to spend more than someone eating alone; while tourist groups also spend more money than locals.
Local people are becoming increasingly frustrated with this new trend.
