Rapper Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison Tuesday for the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.
Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was found guilty in December 2022 of the attack on Megan, which left her with leg injuries.
"Since I was violently shot by the defendant, I have not experienced a single day of peace," Megan testified in court Monday. "Slowly, of course, I'm on the mend and I'll recover, but I'll never be the same."
Lanez spoke in court for the first time Tuesday. He said he cares about Megan Thee Stallion's well-being and that the two bonded over the losses of their mothers and used alcohol to deal with the pain.
Megan testified that she had a conflict with Lanez about their previous sexual relationship. The argument escalated and after that, they started insulting each other's careers. She said she asked to be let out of the car, but that's when Lanez started shooting at the ground and yelling at her to jump.
The shooting happened in July 2020, as the rappers, Lanez's bodyguard and Megan's ex-girlfriend Kelsey Harris, left a party at Kylie Jenner's house.

"It never crossed my mind that people wouldn't believe me," Megan wrote.
